In anticipation of HOME's upcoming Bogart & Bacall Season, this course will offer new perspectives for engaging with and engaging cinema.

The course will consider the essential cornerstones of film form, and offer insights into their development and evolution.

Amongst the topics discussed there will be a focus on understanding the key ideas of cinematography, sound design and editing, as well as an introduction to mise-en-scene and an consideration of the evolution of performance and screenwriting.

Course ticket includes two screenings - Fritz Lang's M (1931) and Howard Hawks' The Big Sleep (1946).

Participants will also have the opportunity to see more films as part of the Bogart & Bacall Season at HOME.
