Event/ This screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Nida Manzoor and Sarah Ilott, author of Multicultural British Screen Comedy.

This event will begin at the advertised time with no ads or trailers.

Ria Khan - an enthusiastic but occasionally misguided aspiring martial artist and stuntwoman - believes she must save her older sister Lena from her impending marriage.

After enlisting the help of her friends, Ria attempts to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence and sisterhood.

A unique combination of bone-crunching action, side-splitting comedy and astutely observed family drama, Polite Society announced filmmaker Nida Manzoor as a fresh new voice in British filmmaking on its release in 2023.

Revisit this recent favourite as part of a special event celebrating the book launch of Multicultural British Screen Comedy – a new publication by Sarah Ilott, Manchester Metropolitan University.
