Can you make it without going to art school? Can you get back to the art world after years away? And what does success actually mean?

Join writer and curator Hettie Judah as she converses with local artists and presents her latest book: How to Enter the Art World… AFTER a Late Start / a First Career / Raising Children / Caring for Parents / Recovering from Illness / a Crisis of Confidence / Leaving it in Disgust.

The event will begin with an opportunity to hear from Hettie Judah and local artists Stefanie Trow, Conor Collins, and Jude Wainwright. Hettie Judah will then moderate an open conversation around the key themes of her book. How to Enter the Art World is a grown-up guide for any artist whose life is complicated, demanding and, well, human. Informed by years spent working with artists and dozens of candid interviews, it is a myth-busting bonanza full of insights, ideas and inspiration. Frank, funny and occasionally forthright, this is your friend on the path (back) into the art world. The event includes a chance to buy a signed copy of the book How to Enter the Art World after.. (Published 23 April 2026).
