The British Home, Through a Filipino Lens.
What happens when a tropical heritage takes root under a British roof? SALO SALO: Come Together examines the everyday intersection of British and Filipino life through textile artistry and regional food. By highlighting the natural parallels between these two island nations, the exhibition explores how a dual heritage is lived under one roof. From the materials we handle to the flavors we share, we look at the simple, daily ways the Filipino diaspora and British cultures overlap and influence one another.
Join us at this launch event for SALO SALO: Come Together, connect to home through all the senses. Audiences can expect to hear from Voice ESEA’s director Abbey Wong, Voice ESEA’s Manchester Logistics Manager Dhanna Estinozo and to be immersed in a soundscape by Gabby Lauren as well as a performance by Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Company, and a stall by Akingsinta Jewellery.
